Living with community and a hall.

I was 9 when the old hall was built.

Even then we were involved in fund-raising to meet the cost. The town had a queen carnival- with a Sports Princess, a Town Princess and a Country Princess.

There were divisions- which were resolved along the way. Me and my friends took part in the opening. I had buckles on my shoes.

I doubt the new hall will meet present and future needs for the community. $45.8 million. Seating increased from 350 to 400.

I am disgusted with the way the consultation has taken place. I had the police around to inform me that the Cromwell Museum wanted to trespass me. The constable said they had no grounds to do so. I continue to be a volunteer there- something I have done for decades. Despite a public declaration, from tjh museum that I was never a volunteer.

I resigned from the local RSA. After the president and vice president attempted [unsuccessfully] to have me banned from a local facebook forum.

So the experience today stand is stark contrast to 1960.

The outright asset grab of our war memorial grounds is very galling.

No discussion about this- on an official level.

I worked hard and trained to become a skilled community volunteer. I did this at a time when we had a young family. I did a lot of groundwork at a community level.

To be ignored, and even scorned- for trying to get involved- with present proposals is a sad indictment of our local council culture.
