The annual residents' survey is your opportunity to share your experiences with Council and to let us know how we are doing. Every year we make changes and improve services as a result of the feedback that we receive through this survey. Here are the top four priorities you identified last year and progress that is being made in those priority areas.
Responding to priorities identified from last year
One of the priorities identified last year was recycling depots. Council is working with Wastebusters on the fixed assets that remain on the site. Once this process has been completed, Council will look to find an operation to take over the site for the purpose of managing a reuse facility. Some services that were previously offered at Wastebusters are now being offered at the waste transfer stations in the district, including battery, electronic waste and waste oil recycling services. More information about these services can be found on the CODC website Transfer Stations & Recycling Drop-offs - Central Otago District Council (codc.govt.nz).
Another priority was community development. Meeting the needs of the community continues to be a focus for CODC. Collaboration with the Tarras Community to develop the Tarras Community Plan, delivery of the Shaping Tomorrow Together project to clarify our district's vision for the future, supporting community groups through grants and building community connections through Welcoming Communities are highlights for this year. More information can be found on the CODC website Community Development - Central Otago District Council (codc.govt.nz).
Water supply was also identified as a priority last year. The water team has been busy delivering on this priority. The new Lake Dunstan Water Supply came online for Alexandra and Clyde in June 2024, delivering clean drinking water that meets the new NZ drinking water standards. The Cromwell Rising Main project, which is currently underway, is the first stage of a significant programme of work to provide a fully compliant water supply for Cromwell. This programme will also provide increased capacity to meet the growth needs of the rapidly growing population in Cromwell and surrounding areas. There are many more projects that have been completed or are currently underway. To read more check out Three Waters Projects - Central Otago District Council (codc.govt.nz).
How can I get involved?
